AAF serial 44-73973 This P51D is being completed with a second seat behind the pilot and dual controls. 

This airframe consists mainly of a newly built airframe using a percentage of original serviceable parts and a freshly overhauled Packard built Rolls Royce Merlin V12. New wings have been built by Odegaard and contain some original part such as outer wing tips, gun and ammo doors. 

This P51D Mustang is available for immediate purchase with contract to completion in approximately 12 months. 

It has been assigned the FAA registration of N6325T and will be in the Limited category.

History: 

This P51D Mustang rolled off the production line on the 23rd April 1945 available at North American Aviation, Inglewood, CA.

 It arrived Perry AAF, FL – 342 Base HQ & Air Base Sq [BAS] (Third AF); assigned to combat crew training 

1945-09-09 transferred to Bartow AAF, Bartow, FL – 340 BAS (Third AF); assigned to utility use 

1945-10-31 transferred to Hunter Field, Savannah, GA – 302 BAS (Continental AF/CONAF); assigned to utility use

 1945-11-20 transferred to Hobbs AAF, Hobbs, NM – 4160 BAS (Air Tech Svc Cmd); assigned to utility use

 1946-04-30 placed in storage at Hobbs AAF as stock aircraft 

1947-10-26 (prior to) transferred to Kelly Field, San Antonio, TX – 4121 BAS (Air Materiel Cmd); in non-cocooned storage

 1950-02-08 custody to San Antonio Air Materiel Command [SA AR] 1950-08-29 transferred to inactive project from storage 

1950-09-04 left Kelly Field 1950-09-06 arrived Glendale Airport (Grand Central Airport Co), Glendale, CA for contract maintenance 

1951-01-12 assigned to Mutual Défense Assistance Program (MDAP) project 148 

1951-01-31 transferred to non-USAF organization through MDAP; removed from USAF inventory

 To the RCAF as 9281 – ex USAF P-51D-25-NA serial number 44-73973. With No. 403 Squadron (Auxiliary) at Calgary, Alberta. Lynn Garrison with RCAF 9281 – 44–73973, 403 Squadron, RCAF 1956.

 Mustang 9281 operated by 403 City of Calgary Squadron RCAF. (photo was taken February 15, 1956 at RCAF Station Calgary, Alberta with Lynn Garrison in cockpit. 9281).

 It was sold by Canadian government to James De Furia of New York and subsequently flew with the El Salvadorian Air Force during the 1969 Football War.

 Sold to James H. Defuria and Fred J. Ritts (dba Intercontinental Airways of Canastota, NY) on 25 February 1957. Registered as N6325T. To Aero Enterprises, Elkhart, IN on 10 May 1960. To Peter Rosi, Notre Dame, IN, October 1962. Back to Aero Enterprises, Elkhart on 3 April 1963. To Farnum Brown, Michigan City, IN on 4 March 1964. To Joseph D. Wade, Houston, TX on 6 March 1964. To A.E. Lee, Atlanta, GA, October 1965. To James W. Gentle, Birmingham, AL on 16 June 1966. To Wendell K. Trogden, Fort Lauderdale, FL on 10 August 1967. Delivered to FA Salvadorean -FAS El Salvador serial unknown, July 1969.

 Several airframes acquired in El Salvador and returned to the USA. The P51D – 44-73973 passed through the hands of J.D. Wade on 26th of March 1963 where it was completely overhauled and to Wendel K Trogdon.

 It eventually made its way to Brent Meester of Odegaard Wings in 2008. Sold in 2009 to its current owner and restoration commenced with a newly fabricated fuselage and wings.
